So anyway, I'm not entirely sure why anyone would be interested in the random natterings of a little old me. But I figured I'd give it a go :-) Lots of my favourite colleagues are doing it and I felt left out. I don't like feeling left out! No, I'm not two weeks late to this .... I'm just fashionably late.
Those of you who know me will know I'm a bit of a cynic when it comes to this whole social media thing for work.
I dabbled in Twitter and followed lots of Librarians and did get into it for a while, but it was so overwhelming and I found I actually didn't have time to do any work. It's great at finding out what's going on but I was too busy reading tweets to actually put anything into practice. So I dumped Twitter.
I've also recently dumped Facebook. That wasn't work related though, purely social. I got bored of looking at the holiday photos of someone I haven't spoken to for 20 years. I did delete people, but then just thought it was easier to delete myself. Bored of getting updates telling me Joe Bloggs is at Wakefield Station. Really, who cares? And lo, since I disappeared from Facebook without warning I have been getting lots of emails from real friends with actual news I want to hear :-)
So how long will I stick with the blog thing? Shall we start taking bets?
Congratulations you are the 30th person to sign up for 23 Things!
ReplyDeleteRandom musings are great, and random musings about each weeks Things are even better!
You'll be relieved to know that you won't have to join Facebook, but we are looking at how libraries can use all these tools.
